Welding and related processes have a significant impact on the quality of manufactured products (home furnishings, means of transportation, up to very complex metal structures, such as ships, bridges, etc.). Products of this type should be made with extreme precision, which is why it is so important to ensure supervision of their quality from the design phase. This is important especially due to the nature of welding itself – since it is impossible to check its quality without destroying the product, and advanced non-destructive testing, in turn, will no longer improve the quality of the results achieved.
ISO 3834 – Quality requirements for welding of metallic materials
ISO 3834 – “Quality requirements for welding of metallic materials” consists of five parts. ISO 3834-1 refers to the criteria for selecting the appropriate level of quality requirements, ISO 3834-2 deals with full quality requirements, ISO 3834-3-standard requirements, and ISO 3834-4-basic requirements. Part Five (ISO 3834-5), in turn, details the documents required to confirm compliance with the quality requirements according to Parts 2, 3 or 4 of the standard.
